So I do wonder what these will change to for future seasons and if they’re going to be more interesting than the same line lists every time.Īs for the “platinum” scandal, where you only get 666 platinum in the pass, the game’s seasonal currency, and that does not let you buy anything at all in the store or even a new battle pass, I don’t think the problem is that total. Only a small handful of these have anything to do with the seasonal mechanic (I still can’t even do the chapter 4 Wrathful Invoker one despite being almost done with chapter 6). The final, final challenges, killing Uber Lilith, getting to level 100, are genuinely hard, but you should be well through the battle pass before you ever get up there. Then later you upgrade to here are helltides, here are nightmare dungones, here are world bosses. Here are cellars, here is gem crafting, here is potion crafting, here are blue quests, here are waypoints. It’s fine, it’s just…a series of challenges that work like an introductory tutorial to the game. The Seasonal Journey - This is something that Diablo 4 advertised pretty heavily as significant addition to the seasonal model above and beyond Diablo 3, as a path to get through the season, challenge players and work through the battle pass. It’s a mechanic that at its core is just “hey here are three new strong Aspects you can use” but makes getting them weirdly complicated. Can’t he just…drop the Heart? This seems overly convoluted, as does the whole “invoker” system.
It’s a bizarre system that involves killing an enemy, click on a heart that is often extremely hard to see in my poison pools, then killing the same guy again so he drops a Heart.
What does not work for me is the Heart capturing mechanic itself. I am blazing through the game with my Bone Spear Necromancer, which yes, was nerfed, but Hearts like “hey here’s a free 70% crit damage” are kind of offsetting that. The Hearts do give dramatic power spikes.
